The following appeared in a Golf Course at Yale Newsletter. This short article was written Superintendent Scott Ramsey.
“No Geese Today”
Yesterday is history
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift that is why it is called the present.
I hope most of you have met Alan Kendrix, dba, “No Geese Today” and his cohort
Molly by now. Alan was brought to my attention this winter after he successfully
filled his promise of no geese today at several other area golf courses. I
believe his work has been an unqualified success. On April 1st areas on the
third and ninth were completely covered and I realized another course of action
must be taken, enter Alan and Molly.
Check out their web site. Alan is well educated in the biology of the migratory
and non-migratory geese that populate the Yale Golf Course and he is
implementing a very aggressive program so that we have no geese today. I am very
surprised that he has such a quick turnaround in limiting the number of geese.
They have been such a pernicious challenge for so long.
There are many health and aesthetic issues that can be attributed to the over
population of these birds and many control programs have been tried with minimal
success. I am committed to environmentally sensitive solutions to all pests that
we encounter here on the golf course, Alan’s methods meets those needs. All of
the geese are herded off property and are not harmed in any way. So say hello
when you see them and have a little faith that this time it will work.
His promise is no geese today and so far that has been a gift.
