What Does Public Relations Have to Do with it?
I grew up in my father's Public Relations Business that had offices in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, Georgia. The motto for his business was "What the Public Thinks Counts." I have found that it is important to let the public know what I am doing. It is important to let people know that my working procedures and practices are humane and ethical.
One day in mid-May I arrived at Armstrong Office Park in Shelton, CT just before lunch time. It was apparently just another warm mid-May day. I unloaded my Kayak, put on Kelly's (one of my two Kerry Blue Terriers) yellow flotation vest, loaded Kelly into my kayak and pushed off into Armstrong's beautiful several acre pond. Before I reached ten yards from my launch spot, all of the geese on the ponds took to the sky --- they know the drill.
This is my newest account that we have been working for just a couple months which is long enough for this flock to understand that this is no longer a safe place for them. There are now just a few 1, 2, or 3 year old unattached geese who frequent this pond.
